Composer Faraj Karayev. About His Life Values, Teachers, Friends and a Little Bit about His Style: for the Anniversary of the Master

Abstract

In an epistolary dialogue between two musicologists dedicated to the anniversary of Faraj Karayev, the composer’s personality and work are discussed in the context of a series of his interviews about his father published in this issue of the journal. The life and creative aspirations of composers of two generations are examined from antagonistic positions. The musical language of the hero of the day is analyzed through the prism of the category of style. The very concept of style is also subject to careful analysis in the context of the activities of the Association for Contemporary Music (ASM-2), of which Faraj Karayev is an active member.
