Problems and perspectives of Elementary Theory of Music in the context of continuous music education

Abstract:
An importance of Elementary Theory of Music as a subject within the complex of continuous music education is considered in the article. Ways to eliminate conservatism in the teaching of the subject are viewed. A necessity to abandon theorification in the teaching for the sake of leaning upon the music of different epochs is declared as a bottom line. The author is sure that these measures may notably increase the popularity of this course.
