Abstract
This article is the first publication of a Russian translation of the Latin treatise “Musica” by the medieval scientist, poet, and composer Hermann of Reichenau (Hermannus Contractus, 1013–1054). The translation is based on a manuscript from Rochester. For scholarly purposes, the text is bilingual (in parallel Latin and Russian), with an introductory article and commentaries. This publication contains the initial sections of the treatise; further sections will follow in the next issues of the journal.
