Genre of symphony concertante in its historical evolution

ISSN 2308-1333

Abstract

The symphony concertante is a well-known genre but at the same time insufficiently studied, with a rather whimsical line of historical development. The article formulates the main genre features of a symphony concertante (in its classical form at the end of the 18th century) and examines their change throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Based on these observations, the author makes an assumption about the reasons for the unusual historical fate of this genre.
