Mensural notation. Mensural and proportional canons

Abstract:
The article presents the specificities of the fourteenth-fifteenth-century mensural notation. Works by Guillaume de Machaut, Johannes Ockeghem and Josquin des Prez are analyzed. One of the pivotal topics concerns the differences between mensural and proportional canons.
