The review discusses the book by L. Hakobian “Music of Soviet Era: 1917 – 1991” published by one of the biggest publishing houses in Britain (“Routledge”). Main ideas and conceptions of the book are considered as well as periodization of the Soviet musical culture and its main heroes; special attention is paid to some of the most impressive hermeneutic interpretations of some outstanding compositions.
