On the threshold of retrospective generalizations and perspective of expectations

ISSN 2308-1333

Abstract

The publication is based on the text of the plenary report read by the author at the Fifth International Congress of the Society for Theory of Music, "Genetic Commonalities in Music Theory: Genre, Style, Language in the Dynamics of History" (M. P. Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory, Yekaterinburg, April 2–4, 2024). A number of issues related to both retrospective and prospective scientific research are considered. The problem of detecting typological kinship at different levels of genetic commonality is illustrated by the example of the Baroque style. The search for and identification of linguistic parallels between the art of different epochs and the Baroque style allows us to discover the mental commonality of this trend with many style phenomena in other cultural and historical areas.
